Allwood Stud Farm, owned by Bob and Marilyn Fowler, almost scooped the pool at the annual WA Standardbred Breeders Association awards for 2024.

The couple received the prestigious WA Breeder of the Year award, while the Allwood Stud stallions Rock N Roll World (2YO and 3YO) and Fly Like An Eagle (overall) were the leading WA based sires for Westbred progeny in 2024.

To cap off a banner season, Allwood Stud received the Breeder of the Month award for February 2024 for the performance of the Fly Like An Eagle filly Diamondsareforever.

The stud is now the most successful breeder in WA harness history with a staggering 1,739 winners including 482 at Perth tracks. They bred 14 individual winners of 16 races during February.

Ultimate Sniper, Allwood Stud’s most recent siring acquisition, has hit the ground running with his first crop as two-year-olds. Usyk, a two-year-old colt, was an impressive winner in 1:57 at Wagga on debut, while Nite Sniper has posted two placings from three starts.

Fly Like An Eagle, again the leading WA based stallion, left a dozen winners in February headed up by the Gloucester Park winners Travelban and Flying Felix.

The WA provincial winners Im Grafter (Bunbury and Pinjarra), Koolbardi Navajo (Albany twice), Cohlin and Zuede (both Pinjarra), It’s Justa Shotaway (Northam), Pacific Eagle and Valhalla Miss (both Williams), and the interstaters Eagle Major (Shepparton), Stereophonic (Globe Derby Park) and Hugh Go (Port Pirie) were other winners sired by Fly Like An Eagle during the month.

While the stud owned Follow The Stars, who stands at Medowie Lodge stud in NSW, weighed in with nine winners including the Gloucester Park victor Galaxy Warrior.

Other Follow The Stars’ winners were Follow My Stride (Bunbury and Pinjarra), Path Of Gold (Northam), Mumma’s Little Star (Albany), Dancingonstarlight (Echuca), Backpaddockjack, Per Ardua Ad Astra and Pre Nup (all Globe Derby Park) and Dashndot (Redcliffe).

The defunct Rock N Roll World, whose oldest stock are racing as four-year-olds, left six winners in February. They were Remarkable Rock (Northam and Williams), Rocknroll Jewel (Pinjarra), Pushbutton Rock (Northam), My Grand Angus (Albany), Lil Miss Crocker (Globe Derby Park) and the Pinjarra three-year-old victor Highview Heidi.

Winners bred and reared off Allwood Stud last month were the Menangle victor Kissed By A Rose (1:54.2), Allwood Mach (1:55.8), Bettor Move Along (Gloucester Park twice), Travelban, Galaxy Warrior, Follow My Stride, Remarkable Rock, Path Of Gold, Pushbutton Rock, Highview Heidi, Valhalla Miss, Mumma’s Little Star, Pacific Eagle and Per Ardua Ad Astra.
