The Allwood Stud owned Follow The Stars and Fly Like An Eagle, who were ranked first and second respectively on the WA sires’ list last year, have started the new year with a bang.
Follow The Stars has already left 12 individual winners, while Fly Like An Eagle has produced 13.
Numbered among Follow The Stars’ recent winners are the Gloucester Park winners Follow The Dragon and Stars Of Gold, the WA provincial winners Brodie Boy, Allwood Wizard, Galaxy Warrior, Motor On Lilly, Briggs On Bond and Queen Of Stars and the interstate victors Nightwatch Star (NSW), Beejay’s Star (Vic.), Mollidor (QLD) and Shewokeupthestars (SA).
Fly Like An Eagle’s list of winners during the month include Noble Thorondor, the winner of the second babies’ race held in WA this year at Pinjarra, the Gloucester Park victors The Wildcard (1:57) and Valhalla Miss (1:57.7), Travelban, a winner at Bunbury and Northam, the Albion Park winner Eaglespride (1:54.5) and the dual Hobart winner Mista Eagle.
Rock N Roll World, the leading first crop sire last year, has hit the ground running with his three-year-olds in 2024.
He has already left four winners in Kurious Boy (1:58.8), Jimmy Rocks, My Grand Angus and Pushbutton Rock and from his initial crop of 83 foals there have been 41 starters and 18 individual winners.
A haul of 18 winners in January has lifted the overall total of winners bred at Allwood Stud to 1629 including 457 Gloucester Park winners. Recent horses to ring up No. 1 at the Perth headquarters track have been the top pacer Machnificent (1:53.2), Stars Of Gold, Joe With The Flow and Valhalla Miss.
