Smooth Rye, a five-year-old mare owned by Allwood Stud, was credited with her first win at Group level when she took out a $30,600 event at Menangle on Miracle Mile night.

After racing midfield, Smooth Rye finished with a wet sail to win in a sharp 1:52.7 for the flying mile the last half in 55.3 seconds.

It was her 12th win and lifted her stake tally to beyond $70,000.

Allwood Stud resident sire Fly Like An Eagle enjoyed another big month with winners in three different States.

The two-year-old Jaycees Eagle, one of five winners bred by Allwood Stud in March, became the third juvenile winner sired by Fly Like An Eagle when he saluted on debut at Narrogin.

Fly Like An Eagle was also represented by the three-year-old winners Stereophonic (1:56.5, Gloucester Park) and Tomlous Jambo (Williams) along with winners from his first crop in Mondos Eagle (1:56.5, Newcastle), Eagles Crossing (1:57.4, Wagga)  and the 1:58.8 Echuca winner Mista Eagle.

Follow The Stars led in a quartet of winners in WA including Krakka Lightning (Northam and Narrogin), Make It Quick (1:58.2, Williams) and the Northam victors Chance Eclipse and Our Shooting Star.

Another Allwood Stud bred and owned winner in March was the five-year-old Make It Happen, who won his ninth race at Gloucester Park.

Fly Like An Eagle has left 25 individual winners and progeny earnings of $307,000 this season, while Follow The Stars has produced 22 winners for $240,000 in stakes.
