Follow The Stars leads 2YO sires

By Peter Wharton

Allwood Stud stallion FOLLOW THE STARS is the only sire with multiple two-year-old winners to date in Australia this season.

FOLLOW THE STARS provided the trifecta in the first babies’ race held in WA at Pinjarra with the Allwood Stud bred and owned Star Of Willoughby defeating Troopingofthecolour and Star Of The Bay.

Black Jack Baby, a filly, became FOLLOW THE STARS’ second two-year-old winner when she scored in 1:58.4 on debut at Pinjarra.

FOLLOW THE STARS also led in a pair of three-year-old winners in Star Fromthepalace, bred and raced by Allwood Stud, who won in a career-best 1:56.67 at Pinjarra, and a ‘new’ winner Follow The Dragon (Williams).

Companion sires FLY LIKE AN EAGLE and LOMBO MANDINGO both produced multiple winners in January.

Dancelikeanangel (1:57.1, Wagga) and Heres Your Bonus (Temora), both three-year-olds, boosted FLY LIKE AN EAGLE’s tally of winners from his first NSW crop to five from only 12 starters.

Meanwhile, LOMBO MANDINGO was represented by the Gloucester Park winner Our Mandingo and Make Mine Grange (1:59.1, Penrith).

Allwood Stud bred or raced 10 individual winners for the month. They were the Gloucester Park winners Quick Stride (1:56.8), Pick My Pocket NZ (1:56.8), Allwoods Treaty (1:57.1), Joe With The Flow (1:57.3) and Back In Twenty (1:58.9), the Pinjarra winners The Last Drop (two), 2YO Star Of Willoughby and Star Fromthepalace (1:56.6), Allwood Glow (Albany) and the Yonkers, New York winner Lord Willoughby (1:56.4).
