Bob Fowler along with his beautiful wife Marilyn, are extremely successful Perth business people and devout harness racing fans. They founded Allwood Stud Farm originally at Serpentine in the early 1980’s and more recently at Bullsbrook on the site of the former Royalstar Farm.

Bob is a current executive member of HRA, former president of both the Western Australian Trotting Association and the WA Standardbred Breeders Association. The Fowler’s have bred more winners in Western Australia than any other breeders.

Amongst the list of stallions they have imported from North America are Allwood’s Trick, the Meadowlands Pace winner Hilarion, the first son of No Nukes in Australia in Northern Lights, Its Levity and the first son of Falcon Seelster to stand stud in Australasia, Million To One – all of whom achieved a good measure of success at stud in Australia.

More recently the Fowler’s and Allwood’s clients have had great success with Follow The Stars, Fly Like An Eagle and one of the hottest prospects to land in the southern hemisphere, Rock N Roll World.

Rock N Roll World only had the opportunity to have a handful of test breeds in NA before he made his way to the Southern Hemisphere.

With just a few horses making a race appearance for 2 winners, and a new track recorded holder in Luke Mcgook, the excitement around this sire’s crop of yearlings in Australia is rapidly building.

Luke Mcgook has a career to date earnings of 13-8-5-0 for 140,457 USD, so this extremely exciting prospect is out of the 1:55.2  Artspace mare Madonna Hanover winner of $55,710.

Similarly they have bred and sold numerous Group, cup, classic and metropolitan winning performers. The list includes the standout pacers Buck The Odds, a WA Sires Stakes champion, Inter Dominion heat winner and multiple cups winner, the WA Pacing Cup winner Hilarion Star and his half-brother Flashing Star, winner of the WA Golden Nugget, the Mount Eden Sprint and a heat of the WA Pacing Cup, the Fremantle Cup Victor Smooth Business and Michael Leslie.

Sassie Brassie, winner of the WA Empress Stakes and Breeders Stakes, Hermattjesty Mulan, Money Master and Jessica Clare have been other smart performers they have bred.

The stud is managed by Kiwi born horseman Big Mick Holtham, who has a wealth of experience working for standardbred and thoroughbred studs on both sides of the Tasman. He later served for two years at the famed Roydon Lodge, Christchurch working with stallions such as Smooth Fella, Sundon and Game Pride.

While at Roydon Lodge, Mick prepared a youngster for the sales which was judged the Best Presented Yearling – the first time the stud had ever captured this award.

Mick has worked at Allwood Stud Farm since 2000, managing their roster of stallions, maintaining the mares and foals and preparing the yearlings for the sales.
