In what could be one of the most significant achievements in Australia’s Harness Racing breeding industry in years, (and to think  its almost gone unnoticed) that WA Star Sire,  Fly Like An Eagle put the likes of:

• Always B Miki, Art Major, Somebeachsomewhere and Sweet Lou (just to name a few) to the sword for average earnings per starter for the 2021 racing season.

• Fly Like An Eagle, winner of $756,178, along with his great sire Mach Three (who sadly passed in January of 2017) are both from the most powerful stallion line (Volomite) available in the sport today.

The NA Leading Money Winning Sires in 2022 for 2-year- old Pacers are dominated by this awe-inspiring line, with four of the top five:

Fly Like An Eagle was an extremely talented young star of the track.  He is a four time Group One winner, and defeated the best pacers of his time including Christen Me, Smolda, Sushi Sushi, and Sir Lincoln.

He held the New Zealand record as the fastest two year old over 1700 metres with a mile rate of 1:55.9

And don’t forget that sensational win in the 2012 Breeders Crown Final, Harness Jewels and throw in a New Zealand Derby, crowned New Zealand 2yo Of The Year, and you can see, he is one seriously fast, tough horse.

However, for me, the real interest is the strength and high speed he has been able to pass onto both his daughters and sons.

The multiple Gr1 mare Wonderful To Fly has been a star for her connections of S R Young, A M Young, P R Bloxsome, R M Boterhoven De Haan, S J Waters, S Chilton, K Drage, K P Egerton-Green, J R Giles.
