Eagle mare nears $500,000 mark

Bonny Fly Like An Eagle four-year-old mare Wonderful To Fly put an exclamation mark on a brilliant month for Allwood Stud sires when she took out the $50,000 APG 4YO Final at Gloucester Park. She won again a week later.

The wins lifted her stake tally to $497,835, the result of 25 wins and nine placings from 41 starts.

Fly Like An Eagle was represented by eight individual winners in May.

The list included the three-year-olds Ready To Fly and Jackie Daniels and others in the Gloucester Park winner Flying Rumour, Killara Eagle (1:55.9), Love To Fly, Fear The Eagle and Soar.

Follow The Stars, who stands at Darren Reay’s Medowie Lodge (NSW), left 11 winners for the month.

Heading the list were the Diamond Classic heat winner Gliding Star, the Gloucester Park winners Belle Livia Star and Lillyrose and the three-year-old True Aristocrat. Other Follow The Stars’ winners were Bonstar, Ya Bettor Followme, Our Star Billing, Half Kidding, Duke’s Empire, Allwood Wizard and Zhanya.

Meanwhile, Arionrock, a two-year-old colt by the defunct Rock N Roll World, posted his second win and earned a new speed badge of 1:57.8 at Pinjarra.

Allwood Stud, the leading breeders in WA, bred a dozen winners for the month.

They were Jesse Allwood, Allwood Glow, Gliding Star, Lillyrose, Arionrock, Jackie Daniels, Love To Fly, Allwood Wizard, Bonstar, Ya Bettor Followme, Our Star Billing and True Aristocrat.
