Allwood Stud resident stallion Fly Like An Eagle has topped the million dollar mark in progeny earnings for a single season for the first time.
As at October 31, the Mach Three horse had sired the winners of $1,060,416 with two months of the season still remaining. He has sired 51 individual winners including 12 two-year-olds and 26 three-year-olds.
During October, Fly Like An Eagle was represented by the Gloucester Park three-year-old winners Smokey’s Shadow and Torrevean Amy, the runaway North Eastern Districts Derby winner Stereophonic, and other three-year-olds in Cherry On The Cake and Northern Gaze (1:55.9) and Eagle Art.
The Art Major horse Follow The Stars, whose stock has earned $990,000 to date this season, is riding high on both the two and three-year-old sires’ lists.
He picked up two ‘new’ two-year-old credits for the month in Imperium (Pinjarra) and Ellucifer (Central Wheatbelt).
Three-year-old winners sired by Follow The Stars included Ya Bettor Followme (Gloucester Park), Follow Rocknroll and Bonstar, while older winners were headed up by The Stars Above (1:56.7), Altair Star and Rodger James.
Allwood Stud, the leading breeders in their field in WA, produced eleven individual winners in October. The list included the Gloucester Park victors Machnificent (1:55.8) and Ya Bettor Followme, Make It Happen, Bonstar, Imperium, On My Oath (Tasmania) and Lord Willoughby, a winner in 1:55.4 at Saratoga Raceway, New York.
