Follow The Stars is leading first season sire

Allwood Stud’s brilliant, young stallion FOLLOW THE STARS is Australia’s leading first-crop sire of two-year-old winners to date this season.

As at March 31, FOLLOW THE STARS has been represented by four individual winners and 10 placegetters from 20 starters from a foal crop of 59.

During March FOLLOW THE STARS produced three ‘new’ two-year-old winners – all fillies – and all were bred by Allwood Stud.They were Star Fromthepalace (ex From The Palace) and Breanna (ex Kashmir), who both scored their first successes at Pinjarra, and Star In Art (ex Artistic Glow), who won on debut at Narrogin.

Meanwhile, Breanna and Team Mascot, both members of FOLLOW THE STAR’s initial crop, were placed the Group 1 $100,000 WA Sales Classic Finals for two-year-old fillies and colts respectively at Gloucester Park.

FOLLOW THE STARS had 18 head sell at the Australian Pacing Gold sale in Perth with the top price of $32,000 for a colt out of the Race For Roses winner Selkie NZ (1:57.7) consigned by Allwood Stud..

Allwood Stud enjoyed another banner month on the racetrack in March with nine winners of 12 races.

Undoubtedly, the headline act was the four-year-old Quick Stride (ex Lucky Stride), who scored twice at Bunbury in 1:58.4 and 1:59.3 and once at Narrogin and has now won six of his nine lifetime starts including his last five on end.

Other Allwood Stud bred and owned winners in March were Atmospherical (1:58.4, Gloucester Park), the Maryborough (Vic.) winner Retort, Compact Rocket (Northam), the three-year-old fillies Looks Official and Rollsoffthetongue and Joe With The Flow (Wagin).

Resident sires TINTED CLOUD and LOMBO MANDINGO both left winners in March, the former producing the 1:57.2 Albion Park winner Skyfella Cam and the Newcastle victor Franco Storm and the latter the Geelong winner Looks Like Heaven.

While FLY LIKE AN EAGLE’s daughter Tequila Tequila finished second in a heat of the Bathurst Gold Tiara and qualified for the $100,000 Group 1 final.
